Is Your Mailing Address Correct? New Medicare Cards are Coming!

Have you moved recently?

Here’s a friendly reminder to update your mailing address with Social Security. Don’t delay. It’s something you’ll want to check off of your to-do list soon.

Starting in April 2018, new Medicare cards with new Medicare Numbers to help protect you from identity theft and fraud will begin to be mailed out. Medicare will use the name and address you have on file with Social Security, so it’s important that this information is up-to-date.

You can update or verify your address by:

  • Visiting www.ssa.gov/myaccount
  • Calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213. TTY users can call 1-800-325-0778.
  • Contacting your local Social Security Office.

Understand that mailing out new Medicare cards to everyone will take some time. Your card might arrive at a different time than your friend’s or neighbor’s. Also be aware of anyone who contacts you about your new Medicare card. Medicare will never ask you to give them any personal or private information to get your new Medicare Number and card.
