North Carolina Health Breakthrough: OrthoSleeve – New Concept in Wearable Pain Relief

Right now, across the United States, well over 50 million people are dealing with some form of chronic pain due to conditions like joint Arthritis, Plantar Fasciitis, and venous insufficiency. Untold millions more are recovering from various injuries to their muscles, tendons, and joints. For these people, relief is a number one concern.

Dave Higgins, CEO of ING Source, Inc. and inventor of the OrthoSleeve line of orthopedic products, wants to help.

“When you’re able to take away someone’s pain,” Higgins says, “you’re opening up a door for them. They can do more, they can enjoy more, their entire life improves through that one simple act.”

Higgins is a Charlotte area, NC entrepreneur with decades of experience working in the specialty textiles and foot care industry. He is known industry-wide as the creator of the diabetic sock market, an innovation that has helped millions of diabetics protect their feet from the damaging effects of diabetes. He noted the fact that many people who needed to wear compression socks and stockings or orthopedic support braces and straps were not doing so because they were so uncomfortable and difficult to put on or take off. In response to this problem, Higgins went to work developing a concept that has evolved into the patent pending “Compression Zone Technology” that forms the heart of the OrthoSleeve brand. The result is a light, comfortable sleeve of moisture-wicking fabric that’s easy to put on and take off, can be worn comfortably under normal clothes, and is safe to wear for long periods without any adverse side effects.

“For seniors who should be wearing compression stockings, but who have a hard time putting them on,” Higgins explains, “an OrthoSleeve product is far easier to work with. That means they’re going to wear them more often and stay safer as a result.”

And, since it’s not a heavy, bulky splint, it can be comfortably worn all day under your normal clothes.

“It’s truly the best of both worlds,” Higgins says, “pain relief and comfort in one wearable product.”

It All Started With Sore Feet

The first product in the OrthoSleeve line was the FS6 Compression Foot Sleeve created specifically to ease the pain associated with plantar fasciitis. It has since sold over a million units worldwide.

“My feet had become so stiff and sore from plantar fasciitis that I could barely walk,” recalls Rev. Lonny McSherley “it was very painful. I bought a pair of FS6 foot sleeves and within three days, I noticed a difference, in a month, all my pain was gone.”

Professional opinion confirms the FS6 works.

“The FS6 compression foot sleeve provides graduated compression across the arch, foot and ankle at a level to reduce edema and the pain associated with conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Heel Spurs, and other related conditions,” writes Dr. Roy H. Lidtke, DPM, CPed, FACFAOM.

OrthoSleeve’s “Leg Up” on the Competition

“Once we started seeing the incredible response to the FS6 foot sleeve in the marketplace, I knew the OrthoSleeve concept would really resonate with the public,” Higgins continues, “so it just made sense to consider other conditions people were suffering from that Compression Zone Technology could help.”

The results of that brainstorming led to the CS6 Compression Calf Sleeve.

“The CS6 is an excellent alternative to standard compression stockings,” Higgins states, “because it provides all the circulatory benefits you need in a sleeve that’s comfortable and easy to put on and take off.”

Patients who are prescribed compression stockings are usually prone to one of a handful of conditions that involve blood flow to and from the lower legs such as deep vein thrombosis, chronic venous insufficiency, and edema (swelling) in the legs.

“And, as an added benefit,” Higgins explains, “the improved circulation and support the sleeve provides to the calf muscle and Achilles tendon helps relieve pain associated with other conditions like Achilles tendonitis and shin splints.”

Referring to both the CS6 and the FS6, Scott McLelland, owner of the McLelland Family Shoe Store, stated, “The OrthoSleeve products are perfect for both our runners and our seniors.”

The Leg Bone’s Connected to the Knee Bone…

“The real beauty of the OrthoSleeve concept,” says Higgins, “is that it can be customized to accommodate so many different parts of the body and so many different conditions.”

As a result, the OrthoSleeve family of products has undergone rapid expansion in an effort to address pain and mobility issues caused by various conditions, like knee arthritis, Patellar Tendonitis, Achilles tendonitis, Tennis elbow and more.

Now, proudly manufactured in the USA, and with an ever-expanding line of pain-relieving products, OrthoSleeve truly is an American success story that just keeps getting better.
